A house built from scratch
with straw and clay

What sets us apart is how the house itself was made: rebuilt from an old farm building, every wall was raised from straw and clay, with timber modules on the upper floor. A natural-built rural house in Valencia de Alcántara, made for people after something out of the ordinary, in a perfect setting right on the border between Spain and Portugal.

You come here to switch off: the stress, the pressure and the noise of everyday life stay outside. The thick clay-and-straw walls are cool and textured under your hand; the smell is unmistakable, an earthy, sweet, clean blend that settles you. At the height of summer the house stays cool inside, and on winter nights it hoards the heat of the fire like treasure. Hence our name: of straw and clay.

Walls that breathe

Straw-and-clay walls with exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation. Cool in summer, warm in winter, in natural clay tones.

A double-sided fireplace

The heart of the ground floor: an imposing stone-clad fireplace that separates the living room from the kitchen without breaking the flow of the space.

Two floors, one spirit

Downstairs, the earthbound solidity of stone, where family life comes together. Upstairs, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms under a pitched roof of wooden beams.

Real sustainability

Healthy living and remarkable energy efficiency: natural construction, reclaimed materials and a complete connection with the land.

Four spaces,
one shared calm

Four individual bedrooms sleeping 8, on the upper floor of the house, separate from the daytime spaces. The whole property is rented as one so that everything is exclusively yours: nothing shared, nothing interrupted, at your own pace.

Sierra de San Pedro,
nature and history

The house sits between San Vicente de Alcántara and Valencia de Alcántara, deep in the Sierra de San Pedro (Cáceres, Extremadura), inside a Special Protection Area for birds and a short drive from the Portuguese border. A singular stretch of country where thousand-year-old dolmens, dehesas of centuries-old holm oaks and villages with centuries of history all sit side by side.

What guests say once they've left

“

¡Totalmente recomendable!
